Lesson 2

More Words

Activity 2: Students broke into teams to brainstorm more words to describe heroes and prepare for the next lesson using synectics. Students working together often sparked ideas for other students.  Students at this point were also using the Houghton Mifflin series unit about Catastrophe's.  We had read stories about children surviving hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, and more.  They also discussed questions to include in their inquiries and project about 'heroes'. Their word's were posted on butcher paper around the room.  Their questions were in a second column on the butcher paper. We would use these questions later to prepare reports in several formats, written, multi-media, video, reader's theatre, artistic expressions, songs, and poetry.
